Our Discipleship Program
Beth-Haran is a ministry offering a residential discipleship program
to women who are suffering from life controlling addictions, eating
disorders, depression, and other self-destructive behavior. Our one-year
program starts with a one-month probation period.
The Probation Period
We ask that the
student make a commitment for at least one month. During this trial period the student will be under coverage at all times. At the end of
this time we will sit down with the student to decide if continuing her
stay at Beth-Haran will be profitable for her.
After the One Month Period
If the student continues staying at Beth-Haran after the trial
period she will enter into the next phase of our program. Our goal for the student is that she grow in the grace and
knowledge of the Lord. As the student shows herself trustworthy,
privileges and liberties will be given.
The Discipleship Program
The Beth-Haran family is made up of the house parents, interns, and
students who come for help. Together, we make up a dynamic Christian
community that provides healing and growth through discipleship.
Discipleship takes place through involvement in three areas, meaningful
work, a caring family environment, and spiritual training.
A typical week at Beth-Haran includes a balance of work, Bible study,
prayer, worship, one on one discipleship, organized group activities and
free time. The work includes food preparation, housekeeping, caring for
animals, gardening, canning, community service and any special projects.
This work is necessary not only to provide for the needs of the
Beth-Haran family, but also to provide students with real life
opportunities to apply biblical principles.
Biblical instruction and guidance are woven into all areas of life at
Beth-Haran. The family environment provides a healthy support system in
which spiritual and emotional healing and growth can take place. The
need for personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His gospel is
stressed as the bedrock foundation of all change— change that deals with
the deepest and most profound issues of this life and the life to come.

Class
The classroom will centers around Bible study. Serious, sincere
participation is expected. Some classes will be tailored for the
individual student. For instance, an expecting mother may need parenting
and prenatal classes in their schedule.
Work
Beth-Haran operates as a family. Everyone is expected to
participate in work detail. Our students must be willing to work cooperatively and
cheerfully. During work detail our students learn responsibility and how
their behavior
affects others around her. Our desire is that in time she will grow into
a vital member of the Christian community.
We want to help each disciple to overcome her depression and
struggles. One way to do this is to take your eyes off
yourself. Therefore, from time to time, community service is a part of our work program.
There are many various ways to reach out and serve in the community.
Diet
At Beth-Haran we eat far less sugar than the average American. Our
diet is simple but balanced and we use very few processed foods. For
example, when we eat oatmeal for breakfast, everyone will be expected to
take a normal portion. Taking
care of His temple (our bodies) is part of being His disciple.
Prayer
As a Christ centered ministry we are dependant on Him. Though we do
not make a big show of prayer. Each morning
starts with a personal quiet time, and just before breakfast we will
come together as a family for prayer and worship. Thus we will begin
each morning by committing the day to Him. Our desire is that each
student develops a habit of going to the Lord daily for help.
Church Fellowship
Because Christ is our focal point, we desire to work with and through
the church. Volunteers who work along side and disciple our women are
bought in from the Christian community. The entire community at
Beth-haran is required to attend church and certain church related
activities.

to overcome, we look forward to
you being a part of the Beth-Haran family.

Discipline and guidance.
-
Your questions answered. Sincere, honest questions will receive a like response.
-
To be taken seriously as a person created in the image of God.

That if you will seek God with your whole heart, you will be
found by Him.
What Is Expected Of You
Sincerity: A sincere desire to
seek the truths of God, the Bible, the Gospel of Jesus Christ and what
it means to be a Christian.
Humility: The proud will struggle
with the authority and structure at Beth-Haran. Pride prevents us from
receiving Spiritual truths. To be discipled in Christ we be humble.
"God is opposed to the proud but gives grace to the
humble"- Proverbs 3:34.
Obedience: We expect
willing compliance with the guidelines and directions by Beth-Haran
staff.
Honesty: Without which there will
be no real change. If it is a problem for you, be willing to admit to it
and desire accountability. Being completely honest about your past will
help us help you.
Commitment: You must
arrive with the goal of completing the first month trial period and
should have a real desire to complete the entire discipleship program.
When you fall, get up and try again.
Grace: All humans have imperfections and dysfunctions. “There is none
righteous, no, not one:” The staff at Beth-Haran are no exception.
Therefore, we invite you, in patience and love, to help us grow in grace
along with you.
Discipline
The need for discipline may result in the loss of privileges.
Discipline and correction are for the benefit of the student. Discipline
and correction, resulting from violation of accepted boundaries and
behavior will be given in the form of additional work, homework, or
restriction from special activities. Correction will fit the
disobedience and will be given with an explanation. Privileges are
earned and maintained by the student.
Circumstances That May Require a Premature Departure.
If medical issues arise that become a serious obstacle to a normal
participation, arrangements will be made for you to return home to
recover and then resume your discipling at the earliest possible date.
If the student's emotional, psychological or spiritual needs are
beyond the ability of the staff to provide a safe, stable and fruitful
environment, the student will be required to leave. This is for the sake
of the particular student as well as the other students and interns who
are at Beth-Haran.
Grounds for Dismissal from Beth-Haran.
It is important to have a clear understanding from the beginning,
of behavior that will result in the termination of a student's stay
at Beth-Haran. These are in place not only for the safety and
protection of the students, but also so the staff at Beth-Haran will
not be hindered from ministering to the other students.
-
Significant omission or falsification of information on your
application.
-
Attempting to smuggle onto Beth-Haran grounds alcohol, drugs,
pornography, weapons or anything else deemed to be a threat to the
safety and-or well being of the students and staff at Beth-Haran.
-
Violence, threats of violence, taunting to provoke violence, or
the creation of an atmosphere of intimidation.
-
A pattern of lying and deception.
-
Refusal to comply with the House Rules.
-
A pattern of abusive language directed toward other students or
staff.
-
An influence on other students that is destructive or
demoralizing.
-
A pattern of flirting, suggestive conversation, etc with the
opposite gender.
-
An ongoing failure to take the "What Is Expected of You" section
of this document seriously.
Dismissing a student is usually distressing for the individual and
always so for the staff at Beth-Haran. Our hope and prayer is that even
this experience will be used by God as a part of His awakening in your
heart that will ultimately result in blessing. We have confidence that
this can be true both from Scripture and in our experience with students
in the past. The door may be reopened for a person's return to
Beth-Haran should a change of heart be evident at a later date.
Our Accountability
Beth-Haran is a nondenominational Christian ministry. We at
Beth-haran work with the local churches and have several pastors who
oversee our ministry and give guidance keeping us accountable to the
Lord.
